The Quran's Number 19

Analysis of the verse and chapter orders of the Holy Quran reveals a number system based upon the number 19.

Let's begin with a simple premise:

Premise 1

Number 19, the number upon which all of the Quran is based, represents two octaves plus the fifth of the third octave of 7 notes. 1 A

In Gurdjieff's maths 2 he says that the two "gaps" of two previous octaves, at intervals 7-1 and 3-4, must be "shocked" by the fifth of the third octave, before any further activity occurs.

In Gurdjieff's cosmology, we learn that not only one octave, nor two octaves are necessary to begin creation, but an added fifth of an additional third octave is necessary for the continuity of creation. This leads us to do a count of notes to see what is going on:

Later, we will eliminate the last two notes of octaves 3, 6, 9 etc.

First octave = 1,2,3,4,5,6,7
Second octave = 8,9,10,11,12,13,14
Third octave fifth = 15,16,17,18,(19),20,21

Here, the Quran's number (19) is the fifth of the third octave that influences
the gaps between 7-1 plus 3-4 = (3,4)(7,8)(10,11)(14,15)(17,18)

From this basic musical premise we can find other interesting summations such as:

19x2 = 38
Forth octave = 22,23,24,25,26,27,28
Fifth octave = 29,30,31,32,33,34,35
Sixth octave fifth = 36,37,38,39,(40),41,42

You expected to find the fifth by doubling 19x2 = 38 didn't you. The count and the octaves don't line up, and the difference increases as the octaves increase. The fifth of three more octaves is 40 and not 38. 40-38 = 2

Let's multiply 19x3 = 57, the number of times the word God appears outside the "initialed" sections. 1

Seventh octave = 43,44,45,46,47,48,49
Eighth octave = 50,51,52,53,54,55,56
Ninth octave fifth = 57,58,59,60,(61),62,63

You expected to find the fifth by tripling 19x3 = 57 didn't you. Now the fifth of three more octaves is 61 and not 57. 61-57 = 4

This is how it works correctly:

From the beginning, if we count two octave plus one fifth, this gets us to 19. If we immediately count 20 as the first note of the second octave and go through the two octaves plus a fifth, this gets us to the number 38 (19x2) as the second set of two octaves plus a fifth. If we immediately start counting again from 39 to the end of the third set of two octaves plus a fifth, we come to the number 57 (19x3). Now 19, 38 and 57 are gematric Quran numbers and we feel we are on the right track again.

Let's multiply 19x4 = 76. This is the total of the letter "Q" in every "Verse 19" throughout the Quran. 4

Let's arrange a:

Tenth octave = 64,65,66,67,68,69,70,
Eleventh octave = 71,72,73,74,75,76,77,
Twelfth octave fifth = 78,79,80,81,(82),83,84

Like the first sets of octaves, let's begin counting at 58 of the third set. Two more octaves plus a fifth later and we arrive at, guess what, number 76.

Now, we can be fairly sure that this pattern of counting two octaves of 7 notes plus an additional fifth gives us all the multiples of the basic 19, since we repeated this process 4 times in a row and there is nothing that will deviate from this, that we can tell.

We can also surmise that Gurdjieff's cosmology seems to accurately describe how the universe began with one octave of notes then two octaves of notes, but it required an additional fifth of third octave notes to energize the first two octaves. Gurdjieff was also dealing with 19 notes. I'm "assuming" that the Quran system came before Gurdjieff. The Quran seems to document the necessity of 19 notes of cosmology and raises them to a level of worship.

Now let's take a slightly different approach to these multiples of 19:

19 x 128

Let's jump way up to 19x128. "The word "God" occurs 57 times in the section outside the initials (Table 18). By adding the numbers of the suras and verses where these 57 occurrences of the word "God" are found, we get a total of 2432, or 19x128." 4

Now, 128 means something to me because if we keep doubling by 2 we eventually get to 128, which, to me, represents the 7th level of a binary-type universe, as follows:

2,4,8,16,32,64,128 = 7 levels

* 19x128 = 2432
2432 would pass right by most people if you didn't know that 432 is a very gematric number in other musical systems, however 432 has a 2 attached to it, right? 5 432 is a musical note judged to be the corrected 440 cycles per second. 432 is sometimes assigned to the Cheops pyramid's Kings Chamber. Other gematric multiples of 216 and 432 can be found in the Email's called Electrons and Mythologies. 5

09/25/04: A Quote for 9:128: "Another observation Katerina made involves the last word of the Basmalah: "Raheem" (Merciful). This word is used in the Quran exclusively as a name of God, and its total count is 114 (19x6), after removing the word "Raheem" of the false verse 9:128, in which "Raheem" refers to the prophet."

"When Katerina was working on counting the word Raheem using the index of the words of the Quran, she first found 115 occurrences. Then she realized that one of the occurrences was in 9:128. Guess what. When she added the numbers of suras and verses containing 114 words "Raheem," she found out that their total came up to be 9128." 18

09/26/04: A Quote against 9:128: "Every sura (chapter) in the Quran opens with the statement "In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful," known as the Basmalah, with the exception of Sura 9. This conspicuous absence of the Basmalah from Sura 9 has been an intriguing feature of the Quran for 14 centuries. Many theories have been advanced to explain this phenomenon."

Why Sura 9?

"Now we learn that the missing Basmalah is one of the signs from the Most Gracious, Most Merciful that Sura 9 has been tampered with. More specifically, two false verses were added to the end of Sura 9 after the last verse 127. There is absolutely no doubt that verses 9:128 and 9:129 do not belong to the Quran. The evidence for these verses being false and added to the Quran after Muhammad's death is overwhelming." There is much more to be read in the original. 19

* Let's try it with 64 or 1/2 of 128:
19x64 = 1216
1216 also would pass right by most people if you didn't know that 216 is a very gematric number in other musical systems, however 216 has a 1 attached to it. 6 216 shows up in other strange places. For example, in the replacement of numbers for letters, we can give strings of words a numeric value: THE TONE WAS WITH GOD = 216. Simply measuring the height of the Pyramid of the Sun, in Teotihuacan, Mexico, we find it is 216 feet high. 6

* Let's try it with 32 or 1/2 of 64:
19x32 = 608 = harmonic with 432 and 216.

* Let's try it with 16 or 1/2 of 32:
19x16 = 304 = harmonic with 432 and 216.

09/25/04: "Chapter 96 is the 19th counting from the end of the Quran. Chapter 96 consists of 19 verses and 304 letters. 304=19*16." 16

* Numbers from low to high: 19, 38, 76, 152, 304, 608, 1216 and 2432 are, not the first 7 multiples of 19, but the first 7 doublings of 19 again, in a binary fashion. We just went backwards, from high to low. From this simple choice, we now understand that the set 19x128 generates the whole gematric, harmonic musical series.

Adding numbers sideways.

To see the implicit order within this series we may have to resort to a practice called integration, in modern mathematics, however, it is also called cross-adding or Theosophical Addition and some associate it with numerology and occultic practice, even while the word occult means "things pertaining to the wise". It works elsewhere, with conversions of letters to numbers and the subsequent reduction to one number, so why not here? Nevertheless, we can do without it, but just for curiosity, let's do some Theosophical Addition of these series numbers and see what happens with the intrinsic order:

Do you also see a pattern of 1,2,4,8,7,5,1,2, etc. as the series gets more complicated? This pattern will hold with all multiples of 2 or cycle 2, Mode 3, Base 4. Therefore it will work for any other multiple of 19 but it will produce a different pattern. These number patterns also confirm the intrinsic harmonics of the series.

What are Quran's 30 valid numbers for?

We see two of the numbers showing up right away: Let's also take two numbers that obviously have a "relative" relationship with another gematric system that includes musical notes 216 and 432. Does 216 have a special relation to 1216? Yes. There is a offset-difference of 1000. Does 432 have a special relation to 2432? Yes. There is a offset-difference of 2000. Is 1000 and 2000 in the series of valid Quran numbers:

"The Quran mentions 30 different numbers: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 19, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 99, 100, 200, 300, 1000, 2000, 3000, 5000, 50,000, & 100,000. The sum of these numbers is 162146, which equals..........19 x 8534." 4

Connections of Quran and the Golden Ratio, PHI (.618, 1.618 etc.)

From Beyond Probability (bp.pdf): 10 "FACT 32. The first word of the Basmalah, ISM (Name), occurs in the Quran 19 times, and the number 19 represents God's attribute WAAHED (One). The gematrical values of the four Arabic letters in the word WAAHED are 6, 1, 8, and 4. These numbers add up to 19. Thus, 6 + 1 + 8 + 4 = 19 = WAAHED (One)."


Connections of 216 and the Kaaba Empty Cube

Vernon Jenkins, in his discussion of symbols as close-packed spheres and cubes, constructs various geometric shapes, including an empty cube of 216 cubes, which to me, obviously represents the Female Principle of universe, reinforcing the other female moon symbols related to this religion, from which all symbolic, male Saviors are born from this Female Principle. The Holy Quran seems to be a religion honoring the First Creatrix as Goddess, although all of this symbology is veiled and hidden. 6 This veiling and hiding of the female is the telling of the story of the dark, invisible void of virgin space, which is the true source of all visible so-called-matter and every symbolic, male god. However, if the story telling is forced as doctrine, from outside the individual, upon those who wish to choose otherwise, it becomes less than a true, religious story.

The followers of Yahway or Jehovah do not seem to even recognize the First Creatrix. Under that religion, the Female Principle isn't even part of the highest Sephira of The Tree of Life, called Kether plus all other nine are also male symbols called God-names. God-names implies male, Goddess-names would imply female. Nowhere is the Female Principle recognized. I borrowed a copy of a drawing of this hierarchy, by a skilled student, and he (or she) lists creations hierarchy a little more liberally for the Female Principle, however:

First position, four positions above Kether is called One Pole- The Void. This should be the rightful place of the Female Principle of universe.
Second position is the three solid lines symbol (kua) of the yi-ching meaning male, called The MOG (Mind of God).
Third position is called The Sea of Light- Tai Chi.
Forth position is called The Soul, designated with the three broken lines symbol (kua) of the yi-ching, representing "female".
Then comes Kether, the beginning of the Sephiroth or Tree of Life of that religion.

So this hierarchy designates the female as The Soul, below the Mind of God (male) and below the creation of the Sea of Light.

But let's get something straight: All things are born of seed, and Gods are no different. It is not admitted that without the Female Void/Womb, existing with The Mind of God, as a hermaphroditic unity of some kind, there would never even be a Mind of God, born out of the Female Goddess Creatrix.

Cycle, Mode and Base Connections

Are you getting the feeling that the Holy Quran's 19 is related to music as two octaves plus a fifth?

Do you know that 19 cycles is Modular 20 and Modular 20 is Base 21?

Ed Leedskalnin, 24 Dimension algebra, Rodin's torus cycles and Peter Plictha's Prime Number Cross used 24 cycles, which is Modular 25 which is Base 26.

Subtract 19 cycles from 24 cycles = 5 = the important 5th again, that activates the previous two octaves of each system.

Numbers on a Torus

Look at the numbers we get by beginning at 24 and subtract 5 from each subtrahend:

24-5 = 19 (The Holy Quran's number, Rodin's 19 opposite to 4, below),
19-5 = 14 (Rodin's torus number, opposite to 9, below),
14-5 = 9 (Rodin's torus number, opposite 14, below),
9-5 = 4 (Rodin's torus number, opposite to 19, below).

This is just a fluke of nature, you say?

Premise 2

Every level of universe is based upon the topology of the torus.

Topology of the Rodin Toroidal Coil.

Analysis of this topology by Marko Rodin 7, gives us an insightful quote or two, about this topology and its associated numberings:

"An interesting development of the modular math circuit (specifically in mode 25 (cycle 24, base 26)) is numerous number of backwards symmetries. What I mean by this is that while finding patterns of doubling, tripling, etc. that there are equal relations. For instance: multiplying by 14 in one direction is equal to multiplying by 9 in the opposite direction. Also this is equal taking every 3rd number while multiplying by 4, which is in turn equal to taking every 2nd number when multiplying by 3. Multiplying by 4 in one direction is equal to multiplying by 19 in the opposite direction. It is interesting to note that the two types of tiles that include counting by one along the diagonals, results in multiplicative series of 4 and 9 vertically (perfect squares)." Rodin.


To make it plain, we are talking about the oppositive juxtaposition of Rodin's symbolic number 4 (Platonic Western Science) against Rodin's symbolic number 19 (Eastern Religion of The Holy Quran). I believe, in this case, these simple numbers represent whole world belief systems, because the earth is a toroidal system and its East/West dichotomies can also be found in a reading of The Mayan Factor (Jose Arguelles) 15. The number 19 might also be interpreted as 1+9 = 10 = 1+0 = 1 (interpreted as unity, although we have learned that 2 is unity, from B. Fuller, after all, it takes two for a unity of West and East). Both being mutually opposed within the torus, it may indicate that these two opposing science and religious systems may represent the two religious sides of a higher topology in the earth. Western science becomes a extroverted, religious belief system and Eastern spirituality becomes a introverted, deeply ingrained way of life.

The Yin/Yang of it all.

Rodin also notes two other juxtaposed numbers similar to the 4 against the 19 going the other way. Those new numbers are 9 and 14. I'm wagering that 9 is the Buckminster Fuller/Gurdjieff Western system of two groups of 4 mobius positions twisting/spiraling around a neutral 9(0) center and the 14 is, either another important number of the Quran, or that it is 1+4 = the 5th of the Eastern Quran's two, 7 note octaves plus a 5th = 19.

Does it make sense that the Quran is holy and whole because its numeric code is not only telling us about how our universe works but the music ratios are the same ratios found in scores of other world religious systems and gematric music?

Connections with Primes

08/30/04: Using Peter Plictha's system of locating primes, he says " All primes can be found to be located to each side of all multiples of 6, beginning with 1, 1x6, 2x6," etc.: Therefore, number 19 seems to be the last number of a octave (7) of primes = 1,5,7,11,13,17 and 19 = 7 numbers. Upon this bit of unexplored knowledge, one can only imagine where it might lead, musically.

Connections with 19-tone scales, Triple Cubes (Triple Goddess) and the Fine Structure Constant.

08/29/04: A 19-tone diatonic scale existed at one time in history.

(Note: It is very important to be able to ignore the talk about musical "wolves" of dissonance and the inability of the 19 note scale not fitting into what we consider "proper" interval. Nature could be full of "wolf" intervals. A 19-tone scale produces "wolf" fifths, pure minor thirds and flat major thirds. Consider other proofs of the Quran's number 19 meaning a 19-tone scale and of the flat major third, written as '1/2 flat', a very important 'mysterious' tone in the arabic/turkish system.). 13

The 19 note scale fits with the (Correction: 09/15/04 "powers") of (Correction: 09/15/04 "2^19 and 2^38") which suggests a difference of slightly more than an octave between Leahy's 242144 and 137438953472, 19 suggestive of the fine-structure constant, tied mathematically through Euclid, to Sections: 905.49 and 1106.12 of Fuller's book, Synergetics 20 and Leahy's 242144 9

A Completely Unique, Experimental Approach with 918 Photons.

09/15/04: Taking a completely unique approach to the powers of 2^19 and 2^38, I previously assumed that one electron or photon had 918 parts because this was one-half of a pair of electrons/photons.

This table first divided 918 photon positions of 1 electron / 666 notes (of the 53 cycles of fifths- Hightower) = 1.3783783784, the fine structure constant fractal. 14

Then came this strange progression:

918 (photons per electron) / 64 kua of a 4 x 4 x 4 Magic Cube =
14.34375 (Grace Factor)
14.34375 ^7 power = 918 (the number of photons per electron),
14.34375 ^8 power = 1836 (the atomic weight of the proton). 14

Under the premise that a photon or an electron (918x2=1836) is being governed and also divided by the I-Ching 64 kua, gave me what I call the Grace Factor, 14.34375, when raised 8 powers, equals 1836, the atomic weight of the proton. Using this factor, in this unique approach I developed a slightly different table, adapted to the number 19:

I already had the numbers 14.34375 and 1836 and wanted to find a beginning of this Table. I first assumed that 1836 might represent 2^19th power.

Counting backward from 2^19 (1836/2=918), then 2^18 (918/2=131071.99962, etc.--since corrected), I arrived at 2^1 = a nice, round 7.00(37842E-3). To me, this is a fitting beginning for counting forward, noting that "The initial Ssaad occurs in three chapters, 7, 19 and 38..." 17

Counting forward from this 7.00, at the 12th power is the very gematric, binary number 2048 (2047.999). Counting forward again to the 19th power is 1836, the atomic weight of the proton / 7.00 = 262144 (262143.999) Leahy's number and Pythagorean Intonation, Meantonal Fractions 218 / 311 = 262144 / 177147 9. Raising 7.00 to the 38th power should show the same relationship between the powers (^19) and (^38) as does the relationship between 19x1=19 and 19x2=38. And, so, The Holy Quran's number 19 seems to be 2^19th power and its multiples and represents the beginning of a harmonic series based upon the 19th power.

Historic 18-note and 128-note Arabic Scales.

This is a 128 note tuning was introduced by an Arabic lutenist around the end of the last millennium. 12

ARABIC (18 TONE OCTAVE)
This ancient scale was derived from a series of pure fifths. This scale starts on MIDI note 60 (middle C). 12

Connections with the Fibonacci Series.

09/04/04: The Fibonacci Progression, illustrating the increase of rabbit colonies can be generalized to this mathematical formulae:

xn = xn-1 + xn-2 (x0 = 1, x1 = 1).

Where
x represents the number of rabbit couples,
n represents the number of the month, 0, 1, 2 etc., and so,
xn is the number of rabbits existing in month n.

Application to music

"But what does this rabbit formula have to do with music? If we only substitute x0= 2 and x1 = 5 for the first two terms, we get the series 2, 5, 7, 12, 19, 31, 50... which bears an important relationship to the structure of musical scales. Any musician will recognize 5, 7 and 12 as the numbers of pitches per octave in pentatonic, diatonic and chromatic scales; and also as the number of black keys, white keys and keys per octave of the traditional musical keyboard."

Note: Above, we have the number 19 as the famous 5th of this Fibonacci series 2, 5, 7, 12, (19), 31, 50. What musical implications, we have here, we can only wonder about.

This is a little different from the octave (7) of primes = 1,5,7,11,13,17 and (19) and both of these are different from

The tried and true series we get from adding 5th in the 24 cycles, beginning with Rodin's number 4.
4+5=9, 9+5=14, 14+5=(19), 19+5=24, 24+5=29, 29+5=34, etc....

i.e: 4, 9, 14, 19, 24, 29, 34, etc....notice this repeats infinitely by hitting on the 4th and 9th number of every 10 numbers. Count this series. All you see is alternating 4's and 9's. This last progression is the same one found in the Section called Topology of the Rodin Toroidal Coil., above.

There are also many of the Holy Quran's numbers that occur in the Cabalist literature of Phillips 8 that describes the concept of superstring mathematics embedded within the numeric codes of "The Tree of Life" as it is called by the Jhawhist community. However I would think that the followers of the Holy Quran would not accept such numeric similarities at this time. The numbers are there but may not be associative since the two systems seem to be as "day" and "night" or as any yin/yang opposites. The unity of all yin/yang opposites is that each opposite pair has its place within the unified topology of the torus.

Connections with Quran sums, the FSC and Cabalist superstrings.

08/30/04: "The sum of the number of verses in each of the 114 chapters of the Quran, plus the sum of every single verse number in all chapters is equal to 339,644 or 19 x 17,876." 10

If 339,644 is divided by 19, five times, we get: .13716899042...a combination of the Fine Structure constant .137 (FSC) and 168/1680.

(168/1680 is 16899042 rounded off. Yes it is off by an even 10 and knowing the decimal system and the powers of 10, there probably is a very good reason for the difference). 168/1680 is often found in the Cabalist superstring math of Phillips, 8 1680 also being found in Iuliano's gematric gravity formulae. 11

Conclusions

Do you think this is all mere coincidence and luck that numbers seem to tell a story? Did you know The Holy Quran had so many connections with so many other systems? Do you think two simple numbers on opposite sides of a torus, with special counterwindings, can describe two juxtaposed belief systems on the opposite sides of the earth? Actually there are three systems. Do you think that all three major religious systems are just like the three, triplet lines that travel together upon a toroidal coil? One line winds forward, the other line winds backward and the one in the middle is neutral.....just like:

1/3 Far Eastern Tao (0)- Neutral No.thing.
1/3 Near Eastern Quran (19) - Female Goddess Creatrix.
1/3 Western Christianity/Science (4) - Male Savior Creator.

However, each system slowly transforms into the others as Ages pass. These three are not opposites, they are compliments. Each 1/3 is the missing 1/3 of the others. One must be able to move from one to the others, fluidly.
